The Hatune Foundation believes that the poorest of the poor can be helped most effectively on the ground. If the money spent in Europe for refugees were spent on the ground, more people could be effectively protected from hunger and distress.
At Bona Fortuna I spent a lot of time with the orphans and preschoolers during my visit, and I was very impressed. The orphans were happy, healthy, social, dedicated to their studies, well-behaved, and clearly loved. There are currently 18 children ranging from ages 5 to 14. We spent the week together singing songs, having drawing classes, and watching movies.

In August, we intend to start a brand-new Web-TV news channel: “New Times Today”, NTT. In the Foundation, we often meet a reality that does not fit into the picture communicated by the general media channels. Our angel will be: “The world, seen from a Christian view, with focus on persecution of minorities”.
“I have long been skeptical about aid organizations, when you know that only a small amount of the money you donate actually reaches its target. This organization and this project really make a difference for the vulnerable, and the money is not wasted along the way.” Agnetha Svanede
The siege of the Sinjar-mountains in August 2014 by the Islamic State made international headlines, then. This was not the first genocide conducted against the Yazidis. Since many centuries, they are exposed to humiliation, persecution and extermination, living in Muslim majority countries. We try to explore the Yazidy culture, religion, history and the special relationship to Muslim neighbors.
The programs of the UNHCR for refugees of the war in Iraq and Syria are underfunded, mostly by the steady increase in refugees. They have doubled in one year, only. It would take an all new aid architecture, a broader approach to solve this crisis. The international community is reacting too slowly, mainly because the donating countries are too busy with their own refugee crises.
